The Principles Of Giving By Apst. Monty AbrahamNew Glory Assembly, Bayelsa State.

Summary of Sunday Sermon.

Topic: The Principles Of Giving.

Bible References: Matt. 7:1-4; 2Cor. 9:7; Exo. 35:2; Gal. 6:9.

Giving is the act of bestowing, or conferring or imparting without charges or consideration.

Giving is not all about money; giving can come as gift, advice, recommendation, and material things.
No human being is designed to be independently successful on his/her own. If you are succeding it’s because you have been receiving help from people. You are where you are today, not solely because of your effort, but because people have been helping you one way or the other.

The following are the Principles Of Giving:-

1). When You Give, You Should Give Quietly: Matt. 6:1-4; Rom.12:8.

Matthew 6:1,” Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven”.

If you are giving, give secretly, quietly; don’t allow men to praise you when you give. Jesus said, when you give don’t make people see your act of giving if you do so you will not receive a reward. Therefore, if you are giving and you want others to see and be encouraged to give too, that is reasonable, but if you are giving just to show-off is not reasonable.

2). Give Cheerfully:
2 Corinthians 9:7, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver”.

To be cheerful is to be happy. Giving is an act of worship, so when you give be happy, be excited because It is an opportunity to appreciate Him for everything He has done for you.
The Bible says as long as the earth remains seed time and harvest time will not end.

3). Give Willingly: Exo.35:22; 2Cor.8:11-12.

God loves people who are willing to do the things of God without being encouraged or brainwashed. God is not looking at the quantity or amount you have to give; He is looking at your heart. Are you giving joyfully or grumblingly?
God cannot tell you to give ten thousand when you have only one thousand; God is not expecting you to give what you do not have.
If for instance, what you have for offering is twenty naira only, package it well, be joyful and be happy, dance and give it to God; don’t bother if the person sitting next to you gives one thousand, that’s what he has.

4). Give Always: Gal.6:9; 2Thess.3:13; Heb. 6:10.

Sometimes when we give, nothing may happen at that moment, atimes things become more difficult, don’t worry, God does His things base on time.
Sometimes, when Satan knows that you are at the verge of your reward, he will bring discouragement to you, he will begin to show you reasons why you shouldn’t give, how your giving has not improve your life, and if you are not careful you will fall to the lies of Satan.

Keep on giving; it will come to a point where God has no alternative than to bless you.
